Sarah Giambattista passed away peacefully Monday, March 5, 2018 at the age of 91. Sarah was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sarah was born Sarah Pagnozzi on March 24, 1926 in North Bergen, NJ. She married the love of her life Adam Giambattista on July 11, 1948, and was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church in the Bronx.
Sarah will be remembered for her family holiday meals and the seemingly never-ending pot of coffee and hospitality. Sarah was a registered nurse, trained during World War II, and worked for many years at Misericordia (Our Lady of Mercy) Hospital in the Bronx. She loved to garden and loved seeing the flowers and fruit that grew from her garden in the Bronx. She loved canning the pears and peaches she grew and we all enjoyed the figs from her garden tree. During her childhood Sarah spent time on the Jersey Shore and eventually purchased a home in the Shark River Hills section of Neptune, NJ.
She loved, and was deeply loved, by her children, Alfred Giambattista, Maria Giambattista, Joseph Giambattista and his wife Jane, Ann Ferrell and her husband Michael. She is survived by her grandchildren Jane Labick and her husband Chris, Marie Quatrocci and her husband Anthony, Adam Sederholt and his wife Katie, Adam Giambattista and his wife Nicole Paniccia, Nicholas Giambattista and his wife Erin, Joseph Giambattista Jr, Kristin Sederholt and her husband Chris Durham, Arianna Giambattista, Sarah Ferrell, and Michael Ferrell. She also lived to see the birth of seven great-grandchildren: Katie, Hayley, Julie, Anthony, Vincent, Nora, and Britta.
Sarah was an amazing woman, loved by everyone who had the good fortune to meet her. She was honest, loving, tireless and will be deeply missed.
She was predeceased by her husband Adam in 1978, and by her brothers, Anthony and Nicholas.
