Salvatore Farenga Sal is the senior director of the firm. Sal has been a licensed New York State Funeral Director since 1972. Since that time, Sal has had an extended education in funeral directing, professional and civic organizations and most of all; he has developed a keen sense of empathy for those in need. Sal’s strength is the ability to take his knowledge and experience and applying it to the practical aspects of the family business and the people we serve. Two major ways he accomplishes this is: By holding regular staff meetings and seminars in order to share knowledge with his staff, and by setting and maintaining his high standards of detail through all aspects of Farenga Brothers Inc. / Hodder Farenga Funeral Homes.
Salvatore A. Farenga Sal Jr. represents the 5th generation of his family in funeral service. He grew up in the Bronx and attended Fordham Preparatory School, graduating in 1997, and Fairfield University, graduating in 2001. He then attended American Academy McAllister Institute and received his Funeral Director’s License in 2003. Sal is very dedicated to the families and the communities in which he serves, and funeral service at large. He belongs to the Knights of Columbus, Boyd Council in Yonkers, the Sons of Italy; he serves on the board of the NYSFDA Tribute Foundation, and is a lector at his parish of St. Barnabas Church in Woodlawn. Sal lives in the Bronx with his wife, two sons and daughter. His hobbies include sport fishing and baseball and he is interested in history and religion.
Nicholas Angelo Farenga Nick was born and raised in the Bronx and now lives in Yonkers. He graduated from Fordham Prep in 2003 then studied at Manhattan College where he received his B.A. in Business Management while receiving his minor in Psychology in 2007. From there he attended graduation school at American Academy McAllister Institute and went on to receive his NYS Funeral Directors license in 2009. Nick’s willingness to help people and strong sense of history provide essential tools for carrying out five generations of caring service. Nick’s dedication, creative thinking and problem solving help him and the families he serves during their time of sorrow. Nick is honored to contribute to a long history of funeral directors.
Kenneth McNally Originally from Rhode Island, he attended the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences. Ken received his New York Funeral Director’s License in 1985 and began working with our family. He resides in Long Island, NY with his wife and daughter. When not working Ken enjoys summers in Montauk and his hobbies include fishing and playing golf.
Carl J. Marchena Carl grew up in the Bronx attending Cardinal Hayes High School. He graduated from the American Academy McAllister Institute and received his Funeral director’s License in 1970. Carl has managed Hodder Funeral Home since 1979 and is a former resident of Woodlawn. He currently lives in Dutchess County with his wife, two sons, and five grandchildren and is an avid sports, racing and music fan.
