Mary Murphy née forde born March 18 1931, emigrated from broadford a small dot of a town, even now, in Limerick, to America in 1949 and started her new life in New York. She embraced her life and soon met and married Michael Murphy. Her new life and family grew quickly with the addition of her children Helena ,Denis ,Michael , Brian and Joseph. Mary and Michael worked hard and saved, doing everything they could to make a better life for their children. The church and her family were of the utmost importance to her.
She was always giving to the church her faith and her time. Her love for her Irish community was evident in her passion and contributions to Irish music and dancing.
Countless nights and weekends spent fabricating Irish dancing uniforms from scratch, sitting at our dining room table patterns spread all over, while she and our “aunt” Molly hand stitched those works of art. I think those times were a great joy to her as well as to us. Over the years one of the most requested things upon the birth of a child was a blanket from grandma/gg/auntie Mary. Truly ,even more now on her passing, a precious commodity to the 100’s who received them. But undoubtedly the greatest love of her life was the family and the kids. Dad passed 15 years ago and he is missed every day, she said last week in the hospital to joe I’ll see daddy soon, that brings me joy to think of that. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, filled though with the memories left behind by her love and gifts of her presence , smile when you think of her life well lived, and appreciated. She is survived by her children Helena (Bob another rock sorely missed) Denis (Eva), Michael (Sue), Brian ( Annie), Joe ( Janis and the late Julie). Her grandchildren Robert(Sandra), Denis (Michelle), Kerri (Brian), Melissa (John), Christine (Brandon), Colleen (Ricardo), Mary (Armando), Redmond (Eleanor), Gene, Treasa, Ciara, Kyle and Laura . And the GG gang Christopher, Robbie, Jaydon, Alyssa, Tommy, Brendan, Evan, Tyler, Mason, Colin, Michael, Aidan, Amalia, Reagan, Ella, Jack.
