On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, Celia Maria Paskalis, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went peacefully home to be with the Lord at the age of ninety-eight.
Celia was born on July, 9, 1923 in New York City to Frank and Celia Rodriguez. She lived in the same neighborhood in Chelsea for the next 42 years close to her immediate family. She attended and graduated from Wadleigh high School, the first public high school in NYC for women in 1941. She worked during WWII in the Post Office arts department. After the war, she did secretarial work. In 1948, she married Andrew P. Paskalis, a returning war veteran and family friend. In 1965, they purchased a home and moved their family to Freeport, Long Island. They were married for 62 years until Andrew passed away in 2010. They enjoyed time with family and friends and traveling in their later years.
They had four children, Celia Paskalis Ligrani, Andrea Miller (James), Andrew F. Paskalis (Kim) and Paul Paskalis (Eva). Celia was also blessed to have 9 grandchildren, Michelle, Laura Gail, Jessica, Aaron, Joshua, Joel, David, Daniel, Celia and seventeen great-grandchildren. Celia was greatly loved and appreciated by her family including her nieces (Cynthia and Denise) and their families and she very much enjoyed spending time with them and being a part of all their special events. For the past 11 years, she also looked forward to participating in church services and was “Grandma” to many at Good News Christian Church in the Bronx, where she was known to all by her warm, welcoming smile.
Celia was predeceased by her parents, her husband Andrew, her two sisters, Ida Di Paola and Anna Smith, her brothers-in-law, Frank and Gilbert and her great-nephew Nicholas Pieloch.
Viewing will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. in Farenga Bros. Funeral Home, 920 Allerton Avenue, Bronx, NY 10469
