Obituary of Barbara Collins

Barbara Lou Collins went peacefully to her rest on November 11, 2018 in the Bronx, NY surrounded by her loving spouse Margaret and family.

Barbara Collins was born in the Bronx, New York to Gus and Mary Collins on July 20, 1948. She went to St Barnabas and graduated in 1966. Barbara went on to earn a BS and MEd from Hunter College.

Barbara was a dedicated teacher for 40 years, she coached, and was the Dean of Students at JFK High School in the Bronx. She also worked at St Barnabas High School as a teacher and a coach. Barbara retired in 2008. Barbara received many accolades as a teacher and outstanding athlete. She was inducted into the St Barnabas Hall of Fame in 2007.

Barbara is survived by her spouse Margaret, twin sister Doris Pearson (Brian) and sisters Jeanie Smith and Margie Walsh (Jimmy). She will be sorely missed by her siblings and many beloved nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. 
Her love and passion for sports, education and family was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.   

 

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. in Hodder Farenga Funeral Home, 899 McLean Avenue, Yonkers, NY  10470.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 10:45 A.M. in St. Barnabas Church, Bronx, NY.

Committal Service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel.
