Obituary of Domenick Louis Iorio
Domenick was born on February 21, 1928 to Victor & Susie (Baselice) Iorio in the Bronx. He was the eldest of three children, followed by Veronica, and a brother Frank, who died as an infant. Domenick graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School and helped his father run a restaurant/bar in the Bronx.
He joined the Army and served our country for 6 years. Afterwards, he met Lillian (Fumei) and was married on June 5, 1954. Domenick was a supervisor for the Department of Sanitation for 22 years. After retiring, he received a HVAC license and worked at Dollar Savings Bank for 10 years doing HVAC work. From there he went on to work at NY Eye Surgery for 5 years as a HVAC technician. After “really retiring”, he spent more time with his wife and took a gratifying position helping to babysit his grandchildren.
Domenick was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Lillian. He is survived by his beloved children, Janice Iorio, Richard (Debbie) Iorio, Susan (Paul) Duarte, and his beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Kristina, Julia and Michael.
Domenick was a true family man where his family always came first. He was an avid Yankee fan and loved to eat, especially his zuppa de pesce. He also loved the outdoors, foilage rides to upstate NY, hikes at Orchard beach, tending to his rose garden, playing cards, trivia games, math games and reading. He had the skills to repair almost anything. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, friend, uncle, cousin and neighbor.
