Obituary of Ernest Sorbara
Ernest Sorbara of Port Chester, NY suddenly passed away on November 15. He was born January 17, 1933 to Rosina and Leonard Sorbara. He married his high school sweetheart, Carmella LaBella Sorbara at Holy Rosary Church in 1955. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Jerome and Anthony Sorbara. Survived by wife, son Leonard (Lisa) Sorbara, daughters Rosemary (Nick) DeRuvo; Sandra (Joe) DiPietro and Maria (Rob) Schaab and twelve loving grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Emily Sorbara, Christopher, Alyssa, Taylor and Kayla DeRuvo, Ryan, Haley and Shawn DiPietro and Gabrielle and Genevieve Schaab, brother Leonard Sorbara and Bonnie of Port Chester and many nieces and nephews and loving cousins. He served in the Korean War. Ernie was a master bricklayer by profession and worked for the Port Chester School District. Ernie’s larger than life presence was largely visible in the numerous lives he touched and changed within his family, friendships and neighbors. He was undoubtedly the one to count on in every situation. Ernie’s love and adoration for his wife and family, and deep faith in God were the most significant features of his life. He will be greatly missed and treasured for eternity. Visiting hours will be held at Gunipero Farenga Funeral Home 353 Westchester Ave., Port Chester, NY on Monday, Nov. 18th from 5 – 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19th at Corpus Christi Church 136 S. Regent St., Port Chester, NY at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers donations to Corpus Christi Church 136 S. regent st. Port Chester, NY 10573 would be greatly appreciated.
