Ann Mahoney

Obituary of Ann Mahoney

Ann Mahoney (nee Ann Shea) of Yonkers, New York passed peacefully at home on Sunday August 15, 2021, on the Feast of the Assumption in the company of her husband Pat and her son Paul.

She was pre-deceased by her brothers, John and Jim, and her sisters, Marion and Kathleen.

Ann will be sadly missed by her husband of more than 60 years, Pat, her brothers Paddy and Noel, her sisters, Sheila, Eily, and Christina, her sons, Jerry, John, Patrick and Paul, her daughters in law, Michele and Joan, her grandchildren Pat and his wife Amanda, great grandchild Laurel, Robert, Brianna, Kelsey, Madison, Michael and Kate and her large extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and her many friends.

A Parishioner of St Paul the Apostle in Yonkers for almost 50 years, Ann was born in Waterville County Kerry Ireland and emigrated to the USA at the age of 17 in 1953.  In 1958, she married Patrick Mahoney of Skibbereen in the rival county of Cork who she met in Manhattan in 1955.  Together, they were a perfect match, sharing an abiding religious faith, and unbreakable bonds with family, community, and as naturalized citizens, their adopted country of the USA.

Ann lived her life in the service of others, as a great partner to her husband, an encouraging mother to her fine strong sons, pitching in with her grandchildren and her extended family and caring for the elderly.  She asked little for herself and could always be counted on when she was needed.  Upon retirement, with her husband, Pat, Ann embarked on adventures around the USA and the World, from the Shenandoah to Monument Valley, to the Golden Gate, to the cities of London, Paris, Rome, Rio de Janeiro, Melbourne, and Sydney and of course frequent returns to her beloved birth country of Ireland.
