Obituary of Antoinette Zito
Antoinette Zito left us Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 81 years old. A lifelong Bronx resident, she was born on December 4, 1939.
Known as Toni or Annette, she joins her beloved husband, Carmelo (Carmine), who also recently left us. They married in April of 1963 and had three daughters; Nancy, Annette, and Vincenza. He, her girls, and her sisters (Margie, Connie, Dolores, and Vikki) were the loves of her life.
Her passion was tennis. She adored the game, whether playing or watching, and loved participating in several leagues with her tennis friends. She was also known for her incredible baking. Requests for her specialties were frequent and she happily complied.
Vivacious and outgoing, she loved socializing with family and friends, always on the go. She also loved the movies, the Oscars, and film festivals. She was a voracious reader, had a fabulous wit and sense of humor, and of course, she loved her Mets, rooting for and cursing them at the same time.
We will all miss her beyond words.
Toni was the namesake of Toni’s Tony Team, our team at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure each year to celebrate her triumph over breast cancer and support the discovery of a cure. In her honor, we suggest that in lieu of flowers you send a donation in her name to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (https://www.komen.org).
