Obituary of Michael McSherry
Michael Joseph McSherry, 72, of the Bronx, NY, died peacefully on Friday January 7, 2022 surrounded by family. Michael, known as Mickey, loved a good story and to laugh. He was larger than life and adored by all that knew him. He loved the beach and to travel, especially by cruise ship. Mickey was a graduate of Paul Smith’s College and the Culinary Institute of American with a degrees in Hotel and Restaurant Management. During his career he was head chef at the Mercantile Exchange (NYC), the Playboy Club (NYC), and the Wigwam CC (Litchfield, Az). He also worked for many years in his family’s restaurant businesses. He then went on to teach nutrition and cooking skills as a NYC public school teacher, where he later retired. He is predeceased by parents Michael J. and Anne McSherry. He will be greatly missed by his long-time love, Veronica Agront of the Bronx. He was the devoted father of Joanie McSherry Towey, loving grandfather to Christopher, Megan (Collin Fitzgerald) and Allison Towey. He is also survived by his brother Sean (Evelyn), and sisters Peggy (Ed Martino) and Susan McSherry as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial mass will be held at St. Barnabas (Martha Avenue) on Saturday January 15th at 10:45am.
