Obituary of Alice Smyth

Alice ‘Lecia’ Smyth was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 02, 2022, with her loving family at her bedside.

Lecia was born to Patrick and Mary (nee Tierney) Clarke on August 01, 1933, in Killann, Co. Cavan Ireland. She emigrated to Greenwich, CT where she worked as an RN.  Later she moved to the Bronx where she got married to Tommy Smyth and started to raise their family. They eventual moved into Yonkers to their forever home at ‘66’. She was a loving and devoted mother to Thomas (Geraldine), James (Lucy) and Patrick (Kelley). Lecia was a loving grandmother to Alice, Thomas, Mary Ellen, and Grace who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her brothers Tony, Benny and Michael, her sisters Margret Coffey and Rose McCabe, and many nieces and nephews both here in the US and in Ireland.  Pre-deceased by her loving husband Tommy, her siblings Eileen O’Brien and Patsy Clarke.

Lecia was always a very hard worker and great provider for her family. She had many close friends from the Bronx and Yonkers who are going to miss her dearly. Lecia’s favorite pastimes were spending time with her family, baking her famous Irish Soda Bread, bingo with friends, gardening, and family vacations throughout the east coast, especially Disney, and Ireland.

Lecia lived life to the fullest and always put everyone before herself. She has gone to her reward.  Her smile and gentle ways will be missed by all.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. in Hodder Farenga Funeral Home, 899 Mc Lean Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Paul the Apostle Church, 602 Mc Lean Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10705

Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY 10532
