Obituary of Jean Lupica

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jean (Montaperto) Lupica of Yonkers passed away quietly on Sunday morning, Dec. 18, at the tender age of 107. A spirited lady with a hearty laugh for most of her life, Jean was a hairdresser in her hometown of the Bronx before marrying and settling down to raise her three children. In spite of her petite frame, Jean had the tenacity and determination of a warrior, daily battling the stairs of a 5th floor walkup with children, laundry or grocery bags in tow, before finally moving into the single-story house in Yonkers where she peacefully lived out the rest of her life. Jean loved her family, especially watching her great-grandchildren and her grand-furbabies play together. She was inquisitive, funny, and welcoming, and some of her family believe her love of chocolate ice cream may in fact have been the secret of her long life. She goes to join her beloved husband, Philip Lupica, in Woodlawn Cemetery. She is survived by her  daughter, Rosemary Bersito and husband Michael of Hawthorne; her son Phil Lupica who lived with her in Yonkers; son Paul Lupica of Florida; her grandchildren, Timothy O'Dwyer, Christopher O'Dwyer, Paul Lupica, Kimberly Campisi, and Denise Tuohy and their spouses; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center.
