Obituary of Christopher Kolenda

Christopher Kolenda died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife Pat and his loving sons, Tim, Michael, Stephen, and Matt. 

Chris was born in Johnson City, NY to Chester & Dorothy (Borkowski) Kolenda. He has two sisters, Martha (Thomas) Roberts and Jennifer (Michael) Hyder.

Chris and Pat met at IBM in White Plains, NY in November, 1984.

Immediately after graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology, Chris packed his bags and moved to New York City to pursue his career and be closer to Pat.

He and Pat married in 1988 and was immediately “adopted” into one of the largest Irish Catholic families in Woodlawn! The Murrin Family.

He became a parishioner at St. Barnabas Church and he and Pat raised their 4 sons in the Woodlawn area. They attended St. Barnabas Elementary School. Chris’ favorite moments were coaching his boys in basketball, baseball or sitting on the sidelines cheering them on. He also taught them the game he loved, Golf! He was never at a loss at rallying up a foursome with his sons and nephews! Those were his happiest moments.

He leaves behind his wife, sons, sisters, brothers in-law, sisters in-law and an army of loving nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews along with his Uncle, Fr. Raymond Borkowski.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from  3:00 - 8:00  P.M. in Hodder Farenga Funeral Home, 899 McLean Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704
